Guess who’s back, John is back. It’s been some times since I’ve posted something interesting here on the blog. Recently I read an article about how sitting down is actually bad for you and how can it kill. Honestly I did not believe a word from it so I decided to do some investigating.
And here is what I learned from all of it.
Whether hunting or trying to survive most of our lives as humans were lived on our feet. But with the creation of TV, the computer, desk jobs, everything completely changed. A normal human now sits about 9.3 hours a day, even more time than we sleep (around 7.7 hours). Our bodies weren’t built for that, and it’s starting to take it’s toll.
Sitting increases the risk of death with 40%
Sitting for 6+ hours per day makes you up to 40% more likelier to die 15 years younger than a person who’s sitting down for 3 hours per day. Even if you exercise.
Studies show that by only lowering the amount of time we spend sitting down will help improve our overall health!
It’s clear sitting down is killing us slowly, but how exactly ?
SITTING MAKES US FAT !
Obese people care to sit 2.5 times more than thin people.
But exactly does sitting down destroy your body ? Here’s how.
As soon as you sit:
Electrical activity in your leg muscles shuts off.
Calorie burning drops to 1 per minute.
Enzymes that help break down fat drop with about 90%
After two hours of sitting down:
Good cholesterol drops with 20%
After 24 hours of sitting down:
Insulin effectiveness drops with 24% and risk of diabetes rises
The human body is simply not built to sit for long periods of time and that is why you have to do something about it.
Now what I am reffering to is not for you to never sit down on a chair again, that is just stupid. All i am trying to tell you is that instead of sitting for 3-4+ hours straight you can get up and do some stretching every 20-30 minutes.
An interesting fact is that those people who spend 3 or more hours sitting and watching TV every day are with 64% more likely to die from a hearth disease.
By only moving a round a little bit more and stop being so gosh darn lazy you are going to change a lot of things in your life. For instance you are going to lower you fat levels, increase your good cholesterol, decrease chances for diabetes, increase calorie burn, and overall a better health.
So what are you waiting for get the !@#$% up and do something!
