The only way you are going to get visible abs is if you lose body fat. You will have to change your diet with clean nutrients like complex carbohydrates, good fats, and lean protein. And you will have to do cardio to boost your metabolism and lose more fat.

But we want our abs to look good when they come to the outside, we don’t want them to look like a chessboard. For this to happen you will have to train your abdominal muscles,  even better train your whole core (Your lower, upper abs + your obliques).

How do the ab muscles work?
The abdominal muscles have an important function in the human body, they provide movement, support, and assist in the breathing process.

I am going to be hones with you, ab exercises (crunches, air bikes) SUCK (the only ab exercise that I like is the leg raise)! That is why we are going to focus our attention to the second function of the abdominal muscles – supporting the human body.

Ask your self, in which exercises that we perform at the gym do we need the most support from the abs and lower back. If it’s hard for you to figure it out, I am talking about leg exercises such as squads, lunges, deadlifts, and others.

Squads
Squads are an amazing exercise that is going to both help you train your core and at the same time lose more fat. This exercise trains not one muscle group, but four, this means that squads are going to have an incredible impact on your metabolism and the flow of testosterone in your body.

There are two ways you can perform this exercise:

  1. With dumbbells
  2. With a barbell

I find it better with the barbell. It helps me keep a better balance, unlike the dumbbells.

Squads are also an amazing cardio exercise, you don’t even need weights.
If you don’t have a stationary bike in your home, or if it’s cold out side and you can’t go out for a run, do squads!

Lunges
This is another compound exercises that is going put on an incredible amount of physical tension throughout your body. You are going to activate five muscles while performing this exercise.

I am going to be honest, after I am done with my repetitions I have the feeling that my heart is going to explode. It’s a really hard exercise that is going to boost your metabolism for hours.

You can perform the lunge exercise the same way as the squads, choose between dumbbells or a barbell.

Conclusion
Do not waste your time with boring ab exercises.
The abdominal muscles are more than just to show of with, they have an important function for the human body.
By performing compound leg exercises you boost your testosterone and metabolism.
