You have probably heard about this type of tea, many bodybuilders drink it daily. There is a reason for that, green tea is a fat loss phenomenon.

The discovery of the green tea has occurred about 4 000 years ago. It’s popularity in the bodybuilding world has recently reached the top as many bodybuilders started drinking for its help. It is studied as a fat-burning supplement and with a good reason!

Let’s start at the root of the green tea phenomenon. Green tea, along with the black tea, comes from the tea plant Camellia sinensis.  This plant is an evergreen shrub that is native to mainland South and Southeast Asia, but can now be found across the world in the subtropical and tropical regions.

Green, black and oolong tea may all come from the same plant, but the difference stems from the way each is prepared. Green tea, unlike the black and oolong tea, is not fermented, so the active constituents are unaltered in the herb.

Now we know from where the green tea comes from. But lets take a look why is there such a huge buzz with this supplement. The polyphenols found in the green tea are the answer. These incredible polyphenols are more commonly know in the scientific community as a flavanols or catechins.

In fact i was this article in a magazine, green tea has been shown to activate the body’s thermogenic fat-burning activity. In this study, an optional amount of catechins (690 mg) ingested 12 weeks significantly reduced the subjects total fat are waist circumference, skin-fold thickness and subcutaneous fat area!

There is a lot of science behind this remarkable herb, I am aware of that, but I just wanted to share some information about it. Actually the reason I decided to write down this article on my blog, is because today I drank a glass of this amazing tea at the gym. It really doesn’t taste good, but it really helps.
